Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
  • Plan, implement, and assist with payroll and accounting system upgrades or transitions.
  • Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
  • Accounting Functions:
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Work closely with accounting teams to streamline processes and maintain compliance with GAAP or IFRS
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts.
  • Payroll Functions:
  • Backup payroll management
  • Oversee payroll operations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Address payroll issues, such as deductions, garnishments, and tax filings.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with HR, IT, and Finance teams to align payroll and accounting processes.
  • Train and mentor staff on new systems, tools, and best practices
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll and accounting system vendors
  • Compliance and Reporting:
  • Maintain compliance with labor laws, tax regulations and organizational policies
  • Prepare reports for audits, board meetings, or regulatory requirements
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll and accounting regulations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years in accounting or payroll managements roles is required
  • Proven experience managing large-scale accounting or payroll projects
  • Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g. ADP, Paycom) and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP)
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP) is preferred
  • Occasional travel for training or system implementation may be required
