Responsibilities
- Project Management:
- Plan, implement, and assist with payroll and accounting system upgrades or transitions.
- Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Monitor progress, manage risks, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
- Accounting Functions:
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, reconciliations, and audits.
- Work closely with accounting teams to streamline processes and maintain compliance with GAAP or IFRS
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts.
- Payroll Functions:
- Backup payroll management
- Oversee payroll operations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Address payroll issues, such as deductions, garnishments, and tax filings.
- Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate with HR, IT, and Finance teams to align payroll and accounting processes.
- Train and mentor staff on new systems, tools, and best practices
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll and accounting system vendors
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Maintain compliance with labor laws, tax regulations and organizational policies
- Prepare reports for audits, board meetings, or regulatory requirements
- Stay updated on changes in payroll and accounting regulations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years in accounting or payroll managements roles is required
- Proven experience managing large-scale accounting or payroll projects
- Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g. ADP, Paycom) and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP)
- Strong project management and organization skills
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Project management certification (e.g. PMP) is preferred
- Occasional travel for training or system implementation may be required
