Job Intro
West Herr Automotive Group, New York State’s largest dealership group, has a full-time position available for an Internal Auditor. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, be self-motivated, detail oriented, and possess excellent communication skills. Prior internal audit and automotive industry experience are preferred. Job duties require working outdoors and local travel. Work hours are split between dealerships and office.
Job Description
Ensures successful completion of assigned audit engagements, from start to finish, inclusive of planning and wrap-up activities. Reports to the Internal Audit management team: Audit Supervisor, Controller, and CFO. Applies audit risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered in the dealership business environment and document exceptions and resolution. Communicates identified exceptions with management to ensure potential concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site audits at all locations of the West Herr Automotive Group.
- Conduct annual parts inventory observations at all locations.
- Conduct deal folder compliance reviews in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct assigned audit engagement planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
- Ensure audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process, circumstances, and business risk.
- Obtain and review evidence to ensure proper audit conclusions.
- Ensure adherence of applicable corporate and regulatory standards.
- Communicate pertinent engagement matters clearly and concisely to management.
- Continue professional growth relevant to job function.
Requirements
- Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Internal Auditor:
- Apply audit standards through practical application.
- Strong organization and follow up skills including ability to handle competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines and commitments.
- Possess a combination of technical expertise in the field of accounting, finance, technology, and business operations.
- Ability to give and follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Solid understanding and ability to apply risk and control concepts.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges.
- Reliable and willingness to travel.
